December 14, 2006 - Diesel Dave Galloway was hit head on by a car in the wrong lane during his lunch time
bike ride.
- Initial prognosis was a broken leg, maybe a broken arm.
- Diesel was airlifted to Pitt Memorial Hospital
in Greenville, NC.
- Actual prognosis:
- Broken and sprung pelvis
- Internal bleeding from the pelvis

- Shattered kneecap
- Dislocated elbow
- Broken wrist, legs, ribs
- Cracked vertebrae
- Bruised

- Emergency surgery to cauterize the bleeding in his pelvis
- Cuts, scrapes, and bruises everywhere

15, 2006 - Fluid in the lungs
- Blood numbers show more internal bleeding so he is given clotting agents
- Surgery
to open his abdomen to relieve some of the intense swelling
- His spleen removal and scar tissue from 1978 made
the surgery much riskier and more difficult
- High blood pressure from the surgery
- Another surgery to locate
and stop the bleeding in his pelvis
December 16, 2008 - Surgery to stabilize the broken leg and dislocated
elbow
- A "halo" was placed around his upper leg with pins going though his knee and several pins going
into his shin
- A stabilizer was put on his elbow to keep it in the socket and hold his arm at a 90o angle
- Filter
put into his inferior vena cava to prevent any blood clots from getting into his heart
- Tracheotomy

19, 2008 - Increased enzyme levels in his blood, indicating deteriorating muscle tissue
